Description:
The leading consist of the first third of a Sishen-bound train of 342 empty wagons approaches the end of one of the two departure lines in the train assembly yard just to the north of the Salkor Yard in Saldanha, led by Class 15E 15-033. The end of its 114-wagon section will be directly below the footbridge in the background when it is in position to wait for the second and third train sections to arrive.

TFR Class 15E 15-033
Description:
Between 2010 and 2013 Transnet Freight Rail placed seventy-six Class 15E 50 kV AC 50 Hz heavy electric freight locomotives with a Co-Co wheel arrangement in service on the Sishen–Saldanha iron ore line, numbered in the range from 15-001 to 15-076. The locomotive is the product of a joint venture by Mitsui (design), Toshiba (electrical components), DCD-Dorbyl’s RSD division (monoblock cast frame, bolster bogies and drawgear), and Union Carriage and Wagon (bodies and assembly).
