Title:
BM 4-6-2 #3715 - Boston & Maine
Description:
This is one of the only 10 4-6-2 Pacifics built by Lima for the Boston & Maine. In addition, these last 10 Lima Pacifics were the last Pacifics that Lima would ever build. To commemorate these last 10, B&M held a children's naming contest. The winning name for #3715 was "Kwasind" from the "Song of Hiawatha". All the rest of the Boston & Maine's large stable of 4-6-2 Pacifics were built by Alco, nearly all of those were Schenectady locos with the exception of the DLW Brooks built locos that were purchased in 1943. Specs - serial #7655, P-4 class, 80" drivers, impressive 260 psi boiler pressure, 23x28" cylinders. No exact date, location or photographer was listed for this photo but it appears to be Boston, MA.
