Built by Baldwin in November of 1920 as MILW 8259, the 2-8-2 Mikado type steam locomotive was renumbered during the company reorganization in June of 1938 to MILW 559. The photo shows it sitting in a storage line at the Bensenville Yard but would eventually move to the scrap line. After nearly 34 years of service the loco was retired in December of 1954 and eventually scrapped. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 287,600 lb, tractive effort of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo. |
