When I was living in the tiny Prague neighborhood of Zvonarka (adjacent the equally tiny neighborhood of Amerika), I was awoken one morning by the sound of a tram on the Zvonarka wye. The Zvonarka tram stop isn't currently active, as people living in Zvonarka and Amerika now use the Bruselska or I.P. Pavlova stops usually, but when there's trackwork blocking a line they'll sometimes terminate trams here. It wasn't the case on this particular day, however, as they were shooting a movie or TV show, and needed a tram stop and a tram, so they called up DPP! 7029 was masquerading as tram service 11 on this occassion, although Zvonarka isn't on tram 11's route. I never found out which movie or TV show was being shot, though. |

During the 1990s-2000s, that construction site was home to a number of additional shops next to Tescos, on the far left, although now its reverted to its Communist-era appearance as a mudpit. Im not sure exactly what the plan is for it, but it probably wont be left in this state for long. |

I took this at the Flora tram stop in Prague back in late January, when we were getting a fair-sized snowstorm, and I had to slow the shutter down considerably to get the 100 ISO E100GX film to pick anything up. I think I shot this at 1/60 or 1/45 at f4, and the result was, of course, that the moving tram blurred. I had to shoot from the ground, too, to get out of people's way, as you can see the umbrella above. In the end, what was technically mediocre ended up being fairly artistic, I think, or hope. :-) I hope that at least some of you will agree. |

This shot was one of the less wild ones from my first cross-processed Fujichrome. The original had a strong Magenta cast, just like the rest, but the more interesting feature was the way in which all electric lights (as on the whole roll), streaked to the right. Originally, I wasn't sure if this was the camera or the cross processing, but I'm now aware that this is the film transport being out of sync with the shutter. It does create the feel of motion, though, even though it wasn't the motion of the tram which created the trails. Also, of course, I'll state the obvious and point out that I converted the photo to black and white. |

Here we can see all but one of the current DPP tram classes, at least if you dont count the T3 variants. From left to right, 8244 is a Tatra T3M, 9150 is a Skoda 14t, and 8750 is a Tatra T6A5. |

These low-floor Tatra T3R.PLFs have been in service for about as long as Ive been in Prague, but until this year they were relatively rare. Now theyre very common, being yet another attempt by DPP to get more out of the old T3 platform even as new Skoda 14t trams are being delivered. The T3Ms are also being upgraded in less radical ways, to the R.3 standard, and many of the RLFs are coupled to them as trailing units. The paint scheme on the RLFs is also unique, other than for the T3R.3s that end up as trailing units, of course. The irony is that its one of the more retro schemes on the system, in spite of the red and cream scheme used on the other T3s dating to the 1910s, long before T3s were even developed! |
