PC 6318, C630, 1968 |
Description: |
PC Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Charles Houser that was taken near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 10 February 1968. Shown here (L to R) are Penn Central Railroad engines #6318 and #6304. Both were built for the Pennsylvania Railroad by the American Locomotive Company. #6318 is a C630 constructed in October of 1966, while #6504 is a C628 built in March of 1965. They're serving as tail-end pushers for a freight train that's heading up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where the pushers will be uncoupled and returned to East Altoona for further assignments. At the far right, note the presence of another westbound freight. |
