N&W 1735
A high hood SD45 leads this N&W southbound at Marion. The second unit, N&W 1308, is notable as being part of a Wabash order of GP35s with low noses and no dynamic brakes. N&W cancelled the order before it was complete and 1308 was the last unit delivered. Date approximate.

Mason Soliday General The delivery of 1309 meant high noses. The GP40s also had high noses. Surprised that NS never had any GP40-2s until 1999 when they acquired several Conrail GP40-2s, and some of the N&W GP40s were also rebuilt by NS into GP40-2s 5/26/2024 9:29:01 AM
