PRR X29 9704 at Jeffersonville, Indiana on April 2, 1985, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This is an example of one of the tens of thousands class X29 boxcars built by the PRR and outside suppliers. This shows the as built (November 1929) flat ends. It has two reporting marks peeking through the paint; PRR 9704 and PC 37753. The PRR number is rather low by PRR standards, suggesting it may have once been an express car. It would have been built with a three panel Creco door, likely acquiring this door during a shopping. It is stenciled: BLT 11-29. It is likely riding on PRR's 2DF4 trucks. |
