KCS SD40-2 679  Contributor's Pick!
View from the cab of Amtrak P32-8 507 on the westbound Gulf Coast Limited. The train is approaching the west (railroad south) end of the CSX Gentilly Yard on yard track RD2 because freight trains are occupying the main line and the passing track. The two KCS SD's on track RD1 had arrived the previous day on KCS No. 53, which originated in Dallas; and would head back to the KCS later today on No. 54. The three UP units on track S23 came in on a transfer run.

Earl Hampton General Never see KCS engines in Gentilly anymore, they use two 6 axle engines to transfer cuts back and forth. 3/22/2011 6:33:16 PM
