Built 4/1898 by the NYC&HR West Albany Shops. Donated to MSI in 1962. "On May 10, 1893 No.999 hit 112.5 mph. No one knows if this speed was actually reached so this is an unofficial record. However, given the characteristics of the locomotive (Max working pressure 184.5 psi, 86inch drivers) it was possible to go that fast. Today it's on display, much rebuilt, and with smaller drivers." from SteamInfo.com |
