We lived on 161st St in the Jamaica section of Queens til I was five. Our apartment was midway between the Queens IND and the Jamaica Av BMT line. Dad worked at the NY Times, so we most often took the IND, but occasionally wed make a foray onto the BMT-more fun because it was elevated. This was taken from the rear window of a Brooklyn bound train at 160th St, looking back toward the terminal at 168th. Theres a train in the station there, most likely R 16s, which were common on that line then-I recall their round windows in the front doors. The line came down beyond Queens Blvd in the late 70s. This photo is from November 1963.
