CIM 4-4-0 #502 - Chicago & Illinois Midland  Contributor's Pick!
According to George Drury (1993), this 1927 Baldwin built American-type locomotive was one of the last three Americans built for any railroad in North America. The loco was finally scrapped in 1953 after pulling the Springfield to Peoria passenger trains for nearly 26 years. Note the interesting diagonal logo plate on the boiler face. No photographer, date or location was given so approximates were used.

Alan Fricker General Gary, I would not be surprised if this was a Paul Stringham photo. He worked for a railroad-maybe the P&PU, don't remember-and did a lot of Peoria area photography. He did a book on the C&IM-I'll look for it later and see if it was published in there. 1/2/2016 11:14:39 AM
