The northeast and northwest walls of the former C&NW, now CN, freight house at the yard at Appleton Junction, WI on 20 Nov. '18. Measuring 20 x 60, it was completed in Sep. 1958 along what was originally the MLS&W main line (which ran parallel to the southwest side of the building). I've always been intrigued by this neat, old building, so I was excited when I recently found it depicted as a freight house on a 1967 railroad blueprint. It seems rather small for a freight house, but I presume it was designed to supplement, not replace, the much larger freight house near downtown Appleton. The north leg of the wye can be seen. |
