MILW 4-6-2 #171 - Milwaukee Road
Long before an SD40 unit wore the number, this 1910 Alco-Brooks Pacific did. Originally it was #6121 but was superheated by the Milwaukee shops in 1920 and renumbered in 1938. Specifics - F3 class, 79" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 23x28" cylinders, engine weight of 247,300 lb, tractive effort of 31,874 lb. No date, location or photographer was given so an approximate date was used. Although not totally sure, it appears that this may be the Milwaukee Road yard in Milwaukee. Can anyone identify it for sure?
