Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken at the Meadows Yard near Kearny, New Jersey, during May of 1962. The photographer is not identified. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9355, a GS-4 switcher built by General Electric in August of 1949, rated at 380 horsepower, and retired in June of 1964 after just 15 years of revenue service. Looks to me like it may have had a fire in its front-end engine compartment. ("LouisFols"; #38 of 39) |
