| This is inside the waiting room of the Vandalia station that had been shared by the Pennsylvania and Illinois Central. Note the Railway Express sign on the door. Its an original and somebody pasted paper "Pennsylvania" lettering on the tender image. Well, somebody took that sign. Years later the station became a restaurant and in 2007 was destroyed by fire. That somebody brought the sign back to Vandalia and donated it to the Fayette County Museum in Vandalia. So, it was actually saved from the remodeling and/or the fire. |
