Built as Texas & New Orleans #629 by Baldwin in 1923, this 4-6-2 Pacific served the Texas rails well. Eventually it landed on the parent Southern Pacific roster as SP 629. Specs - class P-9, 73.5" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 25x30" cylinders, engine weight of 307,300 lb, tractive effort of 45,536 lb. The class was retired from the SP Texas lines between 1954-55.
