GCRY 2095 "Anasazi" waits to depart from the Grand Canyon station. 2095 was built by Budd in 1950 for Southern Pacifc. The car was operated on the Golden State, a train between Chicago, Ilinois, and Los Angeles, California. With the end of the Golden State in 1968, the car was reassigned, before the formation of Amtrak in 1970 brought the car into the passenger railroads fleet. Somewhat ironically, the car operated 6 years longer for Amtrak than it did for SP, finally being sold to the Santa Fe Southern in 1996. The Santa Fe Southern in turn sold the car ot Grand Canyon Railway in 1998, where it has operated since. |
