Here is the second of five successive original photos by John S. Fisher that were taken in Columbus, Ohio, in June of 1958. Caption On Reverse: "The last chunk of coal has passed through the grates of this Pennsy J tender as it sits waiting for the torch at Columbus Shops. June, '58." Shown here are the tender and cab interior of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6454, a J-1 (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during December of 1942 and retired in September of 1957 after just 15 years of revenue service. |
