BNSF 2102 - BNSF 2276 - BNSF 5667
Title:  BNSF 2102 - BNSF 2276 - BNSF 5667
Description:  BNSF 2101 - BNSF 2276 - BNSF 5667 in a little Sunday morning congregational meeting of the minds behind the RIP track shed in the power-waiting area.

BNSF 4168
Title:  BNSF 4168
Description:  BNSF 4168 stuck somewhat in the middle of a rather long line of power-in-waiting as the sun tries to burn through the Sunday morning clouds... a potentially disappearing sight in the background as a container train trundles down from the Seattle-Tacoma deep-water port off-loading zone... recent local news says the various distribution and hub centers around the now predominantly dead port of Portland container area will be disbanding soon (wouldve been sooner) unless Hanjin and (now) H-Lloyd dont resume shipping/container traffic to the quiet docks of Portland... instead moving shop up to the Sea-Tac region and just trucking the containers to appropriate destination direct. Thatll certainly put a little damper on the extra traffic weve been seeing in the north-south corridor between Portland and Seattle-Tacoma, especially with the marked drop in oil and coal through the region. Better enjoy the large influx of power units and movement while it lasts.

BNSF 4430
Title:  BNSF 4430
Description:  BNSF 4430 in two frames from two locations in the service area: first as the action all starts on the main and passing lanes as seen from the 39th Street over-pass... shes preparing to move out backwards into the power corral. Where she was caught in the second frame after services an hour-or-so later in the rush to snap the on-call and ready for duty area in the lower frame. Id thought it a shame to miss seeing the Bondo-and-Primer pattern on either side... Didnt Railroad Model Craftsman have an article on this? Elongating the body or some such noise? (As if - cutting into a spendy unit like it were a tree trimming... right. Seeing how the pros at 1:1 scale pull off their post-modification paint scheme does make me feel better about my work, though.)

BNSF 5667
Title:  BNSF 5667
Description:  BNSF 5667 back of a power-pair shifting out of the gas-n-go area - at least when all the action below the over-pass calms down, Im pretty sure - although honestly, this was a fast after-thought type shot while wandering back to a pick-up point so we can mosey on to church and leave the good folks below to finish their work.

BNSF 6590
Title:  BNSF 6590
Description:  BNSF 6590 hiding way in the back on the turn-table spur with two others, the power corral being rather full at the moment with all the other shuffling preparing to occur. These disappeared over the next hour, so presume they were most ready for duty keeping the others in the corral.

Title:  BNSF 8130
Description:  BNSF 8130 deepest of the three down the turn-table spur (furthest north/out of the service area/closest to being under the 39th Street over-pass) under rain-and-mist before Sunday morning services - snapping quickly waiting for the on-coming pair of covered-hopper groups headed our way from the south/wye.

BNSF 1682 - BNSF 2754 , BNSF 2112 , UP 4598 - BNSF 7041 - BNSF 5675
Title:  BNSF 1682 - BNSF 2754 , BNSF 2112 , UP 4598 - BNSF 7041 - BNSF 5675
Description:  BNSF 1682 - BNSF 2754 (BNSF 2112 cropped off) behind the service area deep down the throat of the north end of the power corral / inspection pit row with UP 4598 - BNSF 7041 - BNSF 5675 back in the tank-top-off area... oh! And whats that out in the north yard area? My fingers are crossed that spark of red that might be visible under the bridge is my missing KCS stuck behind BNSF 8036 (number board glowing in the distance) Sunday evening before services... and now Im judging how far I can push the "Youre not really going to yet ANOTHER location to shoot before we go to church, are you?" from the extremely loving (and very understanding) better-half.

Title:  KCS 4831
Description:  KCS 4831 back again in the power corral on a clear, post-sunset early night in the Vancouver stockade. Nice to see theyve kept her around... gather some more and Ill see if I can start a BNSF take-over rumor. (Note that along with BNSF 8151 shot a week earlier in nearly the same location before heading out south... both have been turned around. Awfully nice of the folks to reverse her direction so in the week Ive been able to shoot both port and starboard sides - thank you.)

BNSF 1793 (with the back of BNSF 1872)
Title:  BNSF 1793 (with the back of BNSF 1872)
Description:  BNSF 1793 (with the back of BNSF 1872) in the Vancouver service & top-off lane under raining conditions. Both last found by us in Pasco, WA eight months prior in early spring 2015. (Yes, that shouldnt really count for 1872 and I _should_ have got a better picture, but between the rain, evil eye from the better half due to approaching Rail Police SUV - figured someone, somewhere, was trying to give me a hint it was time to pack it up... even if I _was_ on public right-of-way, I was getting soaked enough without having to stand in it while my drivers license is run (yet again) - couldnt we just sign up for a Get Out Of Jail Free card from our local rail office? A lanyard with fluorescent orange "Stupid, Not Dangerous" in big bold letters to hang around our necks while taking pictures of trains? Just a thought.)

BNSF 8111
Title:  BNSF 8111
Description:  BNSF 8111 huddled back in the power corral under blazing noon day sun... wait, thats a yard lamp creating the glow in the skin. Its stinking dark. And raining like gangbusters. Dang this is stupid. But note the newly placed super-long by-pass trackage in the foreground. In another nine days itll be ballasted and ready for use running the entire length of the mid-yard and north-yard sections connecting up near the Lake Shore Drive-Fruit Valley Road bridge and leading past the new turn-table, under the 39th Street bridge, service/top-off area, power corral, and finally ending up near Vancouver Center Office (I believe) right across the street from the Vancouver Amtrak Station. It follows a "fun" looping and rolling path following some of the contours of the cropped hillside, ducking in and out of the bridges and around existing trackage. Should be quite the sight to behold once the satellite views/maps are updated. Around here, betting has commenced among the family: active passing lane, super-long service track, precursor to a new maintenance area - see your local bookie to place your wagers (where allowed by law. Otherwise do what everyone else does and use the web to access various Caribbean... I mean, dont do it, its illegal.)

BNSF 1658 - BNSF 2674
Title:  BNSF 1658 - BNSF 2674
Description:  BNSF 1658 - BNSF 2674 yard pair coming out of the service area preparing to enter the north yard ladder region as soon as she clears the 39th Street Bridge... and the remaining group of pictures were unusable on this pair because by the next frame, the lens was again coated in rain which I failed to notice until post-processing. So much for taking one for the team and thinking I was blocking most of the heavy rain with my body topped with an arm over the camera. If nothing else, I presume to have provided a wonderfully hilarious sight to those working out in this muck - a jolly old fat dude in Sunday best standing out in the rain. At least I wouldve found it funny, but was smart enough not to laugh out loud, because with an open mouth, the chance of drowning in the heavy rain was a real possibility.

Title:  BNSF 2636
Description:  BNSF 2636 sitting in the soggy southern end of the power corral behind the RIP track shed glowing under sodium vapor in the background. She was last caught by us across the river in Cascade Locks, OR (well, we were in Oregon, I, being the eternal optimist, was shooting across the Columbia River to put her on sensor - guess thats somewhere near White Salmon? Cant even remember - that was back in June, and it was dry and wonderful - currently the heavy rain is filling my ears and draining into the skull, flooding the brain of any meaningful memory or thought - otherwise Id be smart enough to realize by now, after less than thirty minutes of downpour, Im beyond soaked.

BNSF 4951
Title:  BNSF 4951
Description:  BNSF 4951 on northern point of a power triple (quad, if you count little BNSF 2339 on the southern coupler) waiting patiently in the rain. A funny sidelight to note is there was wind - but the rain was falling so hard, the windsock in the background was being weighted down to vertical suggesting no breeze what-so-ever.

BNSF 7536 - BNSF 4585
Title:  BNSF 7536 - BNSF 4585
Description:  BNSF 7536 - BNSF 4585 in the distance at the top-off/maintenance lane to show the flags blowing in the wind - versus what the windsock suggested in the previous frame being dragged downward to calm by drenching, heavy rains - in fact, the only thing falling faster than the light levels was the precipitation... and its still ten minutes before four. Wow.
