Seneca Foods |
Description: |
Seneca Foods uses this small blue warehouse for loading boxcars of canned goods from their plant in Gillett, at least from what I have been told. Never the less, the perfect for model railroad sized warehouse is a Seneca property, and they do load boxcars there on a spur off the former Soo Line right of way. Whether or not the goods come Gillett, I can't prove it, but that is the information I have received. If any one has better, or more recent, information, please share. |

CN 4705 |
Description: |
The 4705 and an unknown second unit wait for clearance thru Shawano Jct. with a solid train of covered hoppers. It is an uncommon sight to see a train waiting to return to Neenah on the Shawano subdivision at this early morning hour. This was between 0717 hours. |

LRC 606 |
Description: |
The LRC 606 seems to be permanently attached to the Little Rapids Corporations specialty paper mill in Shawano. The red flag in the rail nearest the brush marks the eastern end of the line to Green Bay from Wausau. Just beyond the brush, the CNW bridge still stands for recreational users. Heading west from this direction, the CNW line is cut off in just a few miles, where it now curves to connect with the former Soo Line rail in town, which has also been cut to the west/north. Basically, to get to this mill, the CN arrives from Appleton on the former Soo track, continues out of town a few miles, loops back on a track connecting to the former CNW and back into town to this location. |

LRC 606 |
Description: |
The Little Rapids Corporation in Shawano,WI has this old 40' car of an unknown origin painted up for the company. The car is connected by bridge plate to the loading bay at the time of this photo. The car is obviously not fit for interchange service, and I have never seen it moved for the two years I have known of it's existence. The mill doesnt seem to ordinarily take rail cars on this side of the plant which makes specialty paper products. |

Seven boxcars are spotted on the outdoor dock at Little Rapids. I am not sure how much they ship by rail, but according to newspaper accounts, they receive plenty of pulp via rail service. |
