The LRC 606 seems to be permanently attached to the Little Rapids Corporations specialty paper mill in Shawano. The red flag in the rail nearest the brush marks the eastern end of the line to Green Bay from Wausau. Just beyond the brush, the CNW bridge still stands for recreational users. Heading west from this direction, the CNW line is cut off in just a few miles, where it now curves to connect with the former Soo Line rail in town, which has also been cut to the west/north. Basically, to get to this mill, the CN arrives from Appleton on the former Soo track, continues out of town a few miles, loops back on a track connecting to the former CNW and back into town to this location. |
