NW 2-6-6-4 #1218 - Norfolk & Western         
Another historic steam locomotive that the unknown rail fan found at the Virginia Transportation Museum was this massive Norfolk & Western 2-6-6-4 #1218. In 1987, this beautiful locomotive sat outside but eventuallhy it was brought into a sheltered area after a renovation. The loco was built not far from this location by the Norfolk & Western Shops in Juen of 1943. The loco served until being reitred from regular revenue service. In 1986, it was restored to be used by NS for the steam excursions between 1987-91. It was finally donated to the Virginia Museum of Transportation for static display.
